The German sports car pilot Stefan Mücke reviews a very good season – Received the cup for the vice championship title at the GT1 World during the FIA Championship Gala in India

Berlin (rol/ot) The German sports car pilot Stefan Mücke reviews „a very good motor sports season 2011“. The high point has been the Gala of the FIA in India, where he received the cup for the vice championship title at the FIA GT1 World Championship in New Delhi (9th of December). The Berlin has been overall second together with his British Aston Martin works driver colleague Darren Turner. Both shared the cockpit of the DBR9 over the season for the Team Young Driver AMR from Paderborn (third at the team rankings).

The Gala in New Delhi, where between others the former Mücke Motorsport driver Sebastian Vettel got his second trophy being the Formula 1 Champion, „has been a very interesting experience for me“, tells Stefan Mücke, who changed from his racing suite to a fine pinstripe suit like all the other pilots as well. „I am very proud to have been at the Gala of the FIA and to get the cup for my so far biggest achievement“, tells the Berlin. After all, this could be the best present for his 30th birthday he celebrated on the 22nd of November. „The cup already got a special place of honor in the living room.“

The vice championship title at the FIA GT1 World Championship came up because of seven top three positions of Stefan Mücke, in between them the first championship victory in Peking. Added to that he had his first victory in the USA in the closed LMP1 sports car prototype Lola Aston Martin with starting number 007 at the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) at the six hour race of Laguna Seca (California) as well as position three at the 1000 miles race Petit Le Mans in Road Atlanta (US State of Georgia). For the fifth time in a row the Berlin started at the legendary 24 hour race of Le Mans this season, where he discarded for the first time this year because of an engine breakdown after a few good placings the last years. „Of course that was sad, but I will keep the 2011 season in mind with a lot of great memories“, tells the Berlin, who has been the champion of the Le Mans Series (LMS) in 2009. „I am already looking forward to the challenges of 2012.“ But for now the season closing Christmas party this Saturday (17th of December) of the Team Young Driver AMR is scheduled for the 30 year old in Paderborn.
