The German sports car pilot Stefan Mücke on position six at the ILMC season finale at Zhuhai in the LMP1 car – The Berlin: „A very good season“

Berlin/Zhuhai (rol/ot) The German sports car pilot Stefan Mücke ended the motor sports year of 2011 with a sixth position at the season finale of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cups (ILMC) at Zhuhai (China). The Berlin shared the cockpit of the closed LMP1 sports car prototype Lola Aston Martin with starting number 007 at the six hour race with his Aston Martin works driver colleagues Andy Meyrick (Great Britain) and Harold Primat (Switzerland). On Sunday (13th of November) they were third-best petrol car on track. Winners of the race at Zhuhai have been Anthony Davidson and Sebastien Bourdais (Great Britain/France) in a Peugeot 908 before their French brand colleagues Franck Montagny and Stéphane Sarrazin as well as Timo Bernhard/Marcel Fässler (Germany/Switzerland) in an Audi R18 TDI, so the podium placings were occupied by the favored Diesel works cars.

„That has been a good end of a very long season. Nothing more would have been possible this weekend“, told Stefan Mücke, who got the seventh position at start in the closed sports car prototype #007, in which he got the championship title in 2009 at the Le Mans Series (LMS). „I could overtake the car in front of me after the start. But when a different car hit me on the back of my race car after the first pit stop I had to drive into the pit for reparation. After that we could not make up the two laps handicap to the petrol combatants ahead us“, explained the Berlin.

Altogether Stefan Mücke was „very satisfied” with the 2011 season. „The seven top three placings, between them the victory at Peking, the vice championship title at the FIA GT1 World Championship in the Aston Martin DBR9 as well as my first victory in the USA and the American Le Mans Series at the six hour race at Laguna Seca (California) in the closed LMP1-Prototype have been highlights for me certainly“, told the 29 year old. At the 1000 miles race of Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta (US-State of Georgia) he has been on a great third position. „I will keep the year 2011 in mind with a lot of great memories“, told Stefan Mücke, who already made his way home on Sunday evening from Zhuhai to his hometown Berlin.
